How many flowers should Joanne estimate she needs for this wedding?

Joanne works for a florist. She needs to estimate how many flowers to order for 12 wedding bouqeets. She did similiar bouqets for two weddings in the past. For on she used 72 roses for 5 similar bouets and for the other, she made 16 similar bouqets using 243.

How many flowers should Joanna estimate she needs for this wedding?

[show work, please.]

How many flowers should Joanne estimate she needs for this wedding?
Greetings,

assuming a linear relationship between the number of bouquets and the number of flowers

f = mb + c, where m is the slope of the line and c is the intercept

72 = 5m + c

243 = 16m + c

subtracting the two equations gives

171 = 11 m

m = 15.5

72 = 5*15.5 + c, substituting back into the first equation gives

c = 72 - 5*15.5

c = -5.5

f = 15.5b - 5.5, for 12 bouquets

f = 15.5(12) - 5.5

f = 180.5

She would need 181 flowers for 12 bouquets

Regards
Reply:Joanne has more experience that a lot of people. Why can't she figure it out? I would know what I want without her experience. You go with what you want. Simplicity is the key, I think. The plain and simple with a ribbon or etc. would be perfect. It would be elegant. It doesn't have to cost a lot or weigh you down carrying it down the isle to be the right thing.
Reply:72 roses for 5 wedding bouquet.

On the average, 72/5 =12.4 roses for 1 wedding.

In the other situation, 243 roses for 16 weddings.

On the average, 243/16 = 15 %26amp; 3/16 for 1 wedding.

So, based on these 2 numbers, for 12 weddings, she needs anywhere between 144 and 180 roses.

Has anyone ever bought wholesale flowers online?

I'm planning a shower for one of my friends and I was looking into ordering my flowers online. I'm planning on getting Gerbera Daisies and this site has them for a good price. I'm a little nervous about them coming in and just looking awful . I was just wondering if anyone has ever ordered a wholesale lot of flowers online. This is the website to the place..let me know what you think.

as long as you go with most reputable companies and not by lowest bidder you will be ok.

Los Angeles Flower District - How to order?

I heard people getting bulks of flower at the LA Flower District for cheap. I was there two weeks ago and bought some flowers to practice making bouquets for my Wedding November 08. I love the results and plan to do all the floral arrangements and bouquet for my wedding.

How do I come about ordering batches of flowers from the LA Flower District? Do I just go in the day before and grab what ever flower I want or should I meet with certain floral shops in the facility to order in advance.

Please provide answers, thanks.

Reply:Just go into the Flower Market during public hours. Public hours are 6 am to noon Tuesday, thursday, Saturday or 8am to noon M,W,F. You'll have to pay the entrance fee (a whooping $1 on Saturdays or $2 any other day) and they'll stamp your hand and give you a sticker to wear to show that you paid.

Then you just wander around a purchase between the 2 warehouse buildings.

Two (okay 3) words of warning though:

-Shop around for prices before handing over money.

-Most places only take cash, so you need to have it on you, or there are ATMs

-Go early! Some places pack up around 9 or 9:30 so it is to your benefit to roll out of bed and put on your lazy day clothes to get down there.

If i ordered flowers online, would they be delivered the same way as local shops?

i don't want them showing up in a box, i want them to get there already arranged and everything. No opening a box involved.

If i ordered flowers online, would they be delivered the same way as local shops?
online flower shops have contacts already with local flower shops. so as if anyone will order online, then they will just wire it to their local shops for delivery. but some online flower shops have their own shops too that's why some page have warnings like "no international delivery".
Reply:yeah, they will have a local florist deliver them.

Where can I order wedding flowers online?

anyone know good websites?

Where can I order wedding flowers online?
There are a lot of online sites that provide fresh flowers for wedding events. Some of them are flower.com, fromyouflower.com and Dutch Gardens. All of them offer same day delivery as the day you placed your order, to ensure the flowers are fresh and in good condition. They are committed to delivering the flowers on the same day that it was ordered, failing which, your delivery fee can be waived

Use a Flower.com coupon to order online and save $10 off your purchases! You can even find exclusive deals for flowers and gift baskets going at a ridiculously low price of $29.95! Check out this EXCLUSIVE deal now at http://freeflowercoupon.blogspot.com/
Reply:1) Don't sacrifice quality for convenience. You ALWAYS want to check out the florist, especially if you want fresh flowers.

2) If you want fake flowers, go to your local craft store. You'll find them on sale (50% off) and you'll know EXACTLY what you are looking at. Some websites distort the actual color and product.

3) Don't be mislead by the Internet. It's a great place, but researching your options is going to give you the best deal.

first, i am sorry about your loss, thus needing these flowers for such an event. i dont know about anyone else, but i have always found flowers online are expensive as helll. but i guess i would chose one that had been in business longer, such as 1800flowers.com. also, what ever one you pick, check it with the better business b first (bbb.org) to make sure they dont have too many complaints against them.

as consumers, we all have to watch our backs when buying online.

I need to order flowers for mother's day!?

i dont have a credit card, I need some where that is like buy now pay later. I already tried 1800flowers, they want a credit card, and I have to wait 2 weeks to know if I apply for their "card" I need something fast. I am not going to be home for mothers day! HELP............................thanks

I need to order flowers for mother's day!?
It's kind of silly to get a credit card just for a one time purchase at a floral shop. Try borrowing from a friend or a family member for the money until you can pay them back, they do have pay as you go credit cards available now, or you can sign up at paypal.com with your bank account information, even if you have savings and get a virtual credit card and they'll take it out of your bank account.
Reply:you can usually get a prepaid credit card through a bank. or pay cash at a local florist and let them wire the flowers to your mom. do not count on a buy now pay later thing.
Reply:You can buy general debit cards at a grocery store, which will work.

Whaen Is the right Time To Order Your Flowers For Your Wedding In 2008, How Long Befor I should Order Them???

Flowers are one of the easier parts, I orderd mine only a few weeks before, but you might want to try a few months if you live in a busy area. Ordering too far in advance you run the risk of the place going out of business or changing owners in which case it's very hard if not impossible to get your deposit back.

Whaen Is the right Time To Order Your Flowers For Your Wedding In 2008, How Long Befor I should Order Them???
as soon as you can possibly do it. this give the florists time to make arrangments and to find all the flowers you need. plus if plans change you can always cancel. you might lose your deposit though.
Reply:6 Months before the date speak with your florist. 1 week if you are doing it yourself. Like all planning you cannot wait last minute to think about flowers. Flowers to me are the 3rd most important in a wedding because they will be in the pictures.
Reply:you can order them any time, the more time they have the better your chances of getting what you want...........

Ordering flowers in bulk for a wedding?

I am trying to think of ways to cut down the cost of my wedding. I have some very talented people in my family who could put together some wonderful arrangements- so I'm thinking of ordering flowers in bulk and doing it ourselves. Has anyone ever done this? How did it turn out and where did you order from? About how much did it cost? I don't want crappy looking flowers! THANKS!

Ordering flowers in bulk for a wedding?
That is exactly what I did. I ordered from The Flower Exchange. I got 200 tulips and five bunches of pittsporum for around $220. My only problem was that my red tulips opened up too quickly but they were still amazing. I got all the materials to make bouttonnieres and corsages at Hobby Lobby and a friend of mine put them all together. It was far less expensive to do it that way. Of course, she was busy busy the day before the wedding but she wanted to do it for us. It is very time consuming but a LOT less expensive.

Good luck and congratulations!

If you haven't ordered invitations yet, look into www.lcipaper.com. We ordered ours there and just printed them ourselves. They looked great and were cheap.

Good luck and congratulations!
Reply:I know places like cost-co and sam's club sell flowers in bulk. We're looking to get a bunch of hydrangias from them and just aranging them in vases ourselves and then going to a florist for the actual hand-held arangments (except for my throwing bouqet, that will be wholesale flowers as well. No use play $30 for a small arrangment your throwing and will probably be shredded to piece by bachlorettes anyways).
Reply:Our florist did that for one of my daughters weddings. We wanted calla lillies and it was much cheaper to order in bulk. The other flowers were used elsewhere and it was great. Saved tons of money.
Reply:I am ordering mine from growersbox.com. I am getting about 250 roses for $200. This site was recommended by my photographer.

Congrats and Good luck to you!
Reply:Any decent nursery will be able to take and process your request.

Look at the quality of fresh cut flowers they sell, this is the same quality you'll get, because most of the time they'll order their flowers from the same location.
Reply:WE ORDERED BULK FROM WALMART AND DID THEM OUR SELFS WE SAVED ABOUT 70%DOING THIS
Reply:Try one of these two sites.
Reply:We ordered our flowers from Sam's and had a friend of the family do the arrangements. We had 22 table arrangements,8 bouquets, 17 boutonnieres, and 2 huge altar arrangements. The total was around $700...that included paying our friend to make all the arrangements! It turned out beautiful and what would have costs several thousand to do!
Reply:I am doing the same thing so I will be ordering mine from http://www.growersbox.com/. The have "wedding in-a-box options and if any of those work for you you would save even more money. They are straight from the flower farms so they are super fresh so they will last all day!! Plus free shipping!! Well good luck to you, and if you end up using this site please let me know it worked for you! Have a great day!!
Reply:Unless the talented people in your family are up for a lot of work and willing to be totally busy the day of the wedding, then I would not attempt this.

I understand wanting to save money, but if you want things to be fairly elaborate and/or are fairly picky, then I would just go with a professional and realize that part of the extra expense is the value of knowing it is being handled by someone who does this every weekend and it will look the way you want it to.
Reply:I am doing the same thing. I have not chosen which company I'm going through yet (I'm still in the early planning stages) but I did order a sample from rosesource.com. You get to pick up to 8 varieties of roses you want in the pack to make up 24. (Some companies will only send out a variety sample pack so you don't know which kinds will be in there) These are all the sites that I've looked at. If you have any questions about them just email me. I know A LOT about bulk flowers.

Ordering flowers from FTD, is it a scam?

has anybody had a bad experience with FTD..do they really mail the flowers on time like they say? i read on here that FTD stands for "forget to deliver".

is ftd a scam or a legit flower company?

Ordering flowers from FTD, is it a scam?
Forget FTD and all the other on line flower people like Teleflora and others. They are generally NOT reliable! If you wish to send flowers, go to or call a local florist who can take your order and contact a florist in the town where the delivery will be made. This is the safest most reliable way.
Reply:I've ordered flowers from FTD after looking at the various pics of arrangements they have. The flowers that show up are often of poor quality for some reason. So I gave up on FTD and now just Google a florist in the town where I want them sent and order that way. I have even called the florist, told them to look at a pic of a bouquet on FTD's website, and they have made it perfectly!

So my advice, don't do FTD. Go to a local. You'll get a better deal. Just google florist and whatever town they are supposed to go.
Reply:FTD is legit but they're not very reliable. I've heard several accounts of how they don't deliver.

A co-worker of mine got flowers for Valentine's Day from her boyfriend about 2-3 weeks before the actual date!!! And a friend of mine paid extra $ to ensure delivery on Valentine's Day %26amp; they didn't deliver the flowers until the following day.

Don't order from FTD!
Reply:They are legit. I've used FTD florists many times.
Reply:FTD is a national association of florists. You order the flowers in your town. Your local florist picks up the phone and call the city where you want the flowers delivered. In that city a florist makes up the boquet and delivers it. They pay a fee to FTD from the amount you pay.

The only problem I have heard of is sometimes the quality of flowers at the recipient florist are not as good as advertised. If you are really leary get the reciever to photograph the boquet and send you the pic.

Order of flowers according to Great Chain of Being?

Plants: Plants, like other living creatures, possessed the ability to grow in size and reproduce. However, they lacked mental attributes and possessed no sensory organs. Instead, their gifts included the ability to eat soil, air, and "heat." (Photosynthesis was a poorly understood phenomenon in medieval and Renaissance times.) Plants did have greater tolerances for heat and cold, and immunity to the pain that afflicts most animals. The primate of plants was the oak tree. In general, trees ranked higher than shrubs, shrubs ranked higher than bushes, bushes ranked higher than cereal crops, and cereal crops ranked higher than herbs, ferns, and weeds. At the very bottom of the botanical hierarchy, the fungus and moss, lacking leaf and blossom, were so limited in form that Renaissance thinkers thought them scarcely above the level of minerals. However, each plant was also thought to be gifted with various edible or medicinal virtues unique to its own type.

Do Gladiola flowers multiply?

I'm new to gardening and want something easy to care for, which minimum effort and the most bang for your buck. I think Gladiola's are soo pretty... will they multiply %26amp;/or come back year after year like some wildflowers do? If not I would appreciate some expert advice on which flowers will. Also, I'm interested in hearing firsthand experience and feedback on mail - order flower companies such as Breck's, Michigan Bulb, etc. Thanks!

Do Gladiola flowers multiply?
yes they do multiply, i've been trying to get rid of some that are in my garden, for years! they ARE beautiful tho. keep in mind that they grow very big and they are heavy, so you will probably have to stake them up or they will start falling down :( as far as perennials are concerned(flowers that come back year after year), there are tons! daisies, black eyed susans, day lilies, gallardia, the list goes on forever. you need a perennial book to consider all the choices!
Reply:Hard to kill, they spread all over with baby bulbs.
Reply:yes..the bulb will multiply...depending on the growing zone you live in and the type of glad you might have to dig them up in the winter and store in a cool place such as a root cellar, crawl space under the house or basement

there are also hardy glads that dont need to be lifted in the winter and stored

as far as mail order companies i have orders from brecks and michigan bulb that will be in starting this week and all will be in by next week....i have no problems with their items plus michigan bulb will give you a life time guarantee... alot of mail order gardening places will usually have some kind of guarantee with their products
Reply:Oh my God yes they will multiply, they set off small bulbs by the hundreds, don't plant them in any area you intend to use as a garden, damn things will come up for years!
Reply:Yes, Gladiola's will multiply, so will Iris's they make beautiful background for gardens.

Reply:I think the best gift you could give your girlfriend and your son is coming back alive. Seriously. Well, actually, you say she's your girlfriend and you have a son with her, so it'd be probably even better if you proposed. But anyways, if you truly do want to send her flowers I think you should ask one of your friends outside the Army to do all the stuff.

I don't know of a site where you buy natural flower bouquets, but I doubt that if it existed, they'd handle fresh flowers. One never knows, though.

I recommend doing a quick Yahoo! search. =)

Have you looked on Ebay? I know you can find large lots of silk flowers on there.
Reply:I have tried ebay but I will not be using it due to the fact peoples shipping costs are bad so myself I feel this is not the best answer Report It

Reply:Im doing a fall theme too. I bought most of my flowers from Hobby Lobby. They have really high quality flowers. My best advice is to -never- pay full price. Basically every craft store has 50% off floral sales. Only buy 1/2 off because otherwise, you will spend a fortune. I have also had a heck of a time finding them online but when you think about it, you should try to buy them from a store so you can make sure that the color, look and feel of the flower is perfect. I dont know if you have a hobby lobby in your area but they really are the best. Also, I have bought some decent flowers from Michaels. good luck!!

Has anyone heard of putting fresh flowers in very hot water in order for them to open fully and last longer?

I was at a very fine restaurant friday nite and I saw the most beautiful white fully opened roses I'd ever seen! The receptionist told us they were called "faith" and that they use a special technique to open them fully and make them live longer. She said they put them in very hot water and it opens them immidiately? I just don't believe that! Besides, I looked for that special white rose using that name on the internet and didn't find anything close to a rose by that name. I don't think she knew what she was talking about. Any feedback, guys?

Has anyone heard of putting fresh flowers in very hot water in order for them to open fully and last longer?
If roses have wilted because they have been out of water too long or because the stems were not cut underwater soon enough and the stem ends have become clogged, hot water will revive them faster than cold water. The reason is that stems absorb hot water more quickly. Keep in mind that water moves up the stem more rapidly when cut flowers are placed in slightly acidic water.

Quite often, you'll see cut roses drooping at their necks (right below the buds). A simple way to revive them is to cut about an inch off the bottom of the stems and place them immediately in very hot water. You should start to see the roses revive after 30 minutes or so.

(Flowers that are soft-stemmed wouldn't be able to withstand the hot water and they would probably be damaged)

A COUPLE OF HELPFUL HINTS TO PROLONG CUT FLOWERS:

Water for cut flowers is best if it is slightly acidic because acid breaks up air bubbles in water by neutralizing the carbon dioxide gas. Air bubbles can clog stems and prevent water from reaching the flowers and foliage.

IF you aren't able to use the florist preservatives, you can mix up your own by;

A) Mixing any clear citrus-based soft drink (such as 7-Up or Sprite but NOT DIET) with three parts water + 1/2 teaspoon of bleach (to prevent the formation of algae which can plug up stems and keeps them from absorbing water)

OR

B) Mix 2 tablespoons lemon juice, 1 tablespoon sugar, and l/2 teaspoon household bleach in 1 quart of water.

You should change the water in the vase every day and try to cut off the bottom of the stem (at a 45-degree angle) underwater each time.

Hope this answered your question! GOOD LUCK with your cut roses and enjoy!

Reply:Yes I have! Although I was told warm water, but maybe hot water makes them open even quicker. Just this past weekend, we held our annual Colonial Tea at our church, (our 101st!!), and we set up beautiful tables with our finest dishes and tableclothes. One woman bought some beautiful purple flowers for her centerpiece still in the budding stage the night before the tea. By the next afternoon, many were in full bloom and just gorgeous. So it does work!!
Reply:I don't know about that but I do know what keeps them longer i use this method when ever i get flower's take the vase put cold water in it and get some gingerale and pour at least half a bottle in it and the flower's last those few extra days longer and keeps them healthy and looking good you should try it it's no lie!!!
Reply:I have always been told and read that you are supposed to re-cut the flowers about 1 inch from where they were originally cut put them in luke warm water with either the fresh cut flower food that comes with them or a mixture of warm water 1 teaspoon sugar and 1 teaspoon chlorine bleach also changing the water every couple of days is supposed to help them last longer too. i think that putting them in hot water would just do more harm to them than good.
Reply:I don't know whether the hot water helps, but I do know you can put cut flowers in lemonade or mineral water to make them last longer. Water with a dissolved asprin also works.

Anyone ever order any bulbs or flowers from "Brecks"?

Yes, they are the only company I will purchase bulbs and plants from. I once ordered from another company and the bulbs were much smaller in comparison to Breck's and did not produce like the one's from Breck's. Breck's also has a sister company...Spring Hill Nursery. I would recommend either of these!

Anyone ever order any bulbs or flowers from "Brecks"?
Hi,

We ordered some bulbs from them and they arrived in a reasonable time and grew well.

If you google Brecks and Coupon you will find a lot of deals like $25 off if you spend $50. Their website also has it listed at the top: http://www.brecks.com

Good Luck
Reply:I have. Nice outfit. good plants and bulbs.
Reply:Yes, several times. Everything I ordered came on time and grew. I was happy with the company.
Reply:Yes, many times - daffodils and tulips. I thought they were fine.

Need advice on flowers for wedding and reception. Are online flowers good quality?

My wedding is on May 10th and I'm probably going to order flowers online for the bouquets and decorations (and do them ourselves). And probably gonna go local for boutonnieres and corsages. Has anyone out there done this

Need advice on flowers for wedding and reception. Are online flowers good quality?
I have ordered from ProFlowers.com many times and their flowers are beautiful. They have really good prices on wedding packages also, or you can buy bulk flowers.

Boutonnieres and corsages are really easy to make. Try your hand at them before you pay the expensive price!
Reply:Friends of mine got married over the summer and ordered their flowers online. My now fiance and I couldn't tell the difference. She got them from www.freshroses.com. They were much cheaper than a florist and she didn't say anything about them being difficult to put together. I considered doing this because it is much cheaper, but just went with a florist for the bouquets, boutonnieres, corsages, etc. because I really don't want to spend the couple nights before the wedding putting everything together and freaking out if it doesn't turn out right. For the reception, we just went to Ikea and got a bunch of candles and mirrors and are making our own centerpieces.

Can you use a bank card from visa to order flowers from www.1800flowers.com?

it would be a very much of a help to me! thanks in advance!

Yup.

Where can i order flowers for my wedding, which i can put together myself.?

do you live near a flower district?

For example, I live in los angeles, and there is a wholesale flower district down town...everything is SUPER cheap and you buy the flowers and assemble your decor how you want.

Where can i order flowers for my wedding, which i can put together myself.?
you can become a sam's club member, if you're not already, and you can order flowers in bulk from them.

Reply:Fresh flowers, or artificial? If it's fresh flowers, you are on a time line, as to their table life. Do you plan the fresh flowers to be arranged in a vase with decorations? Go to the telephone book, or call a nursery and ask if they can provide these. Call weeks to months in advance, to get the right rate.

From the wording of your question, it's the fresh flowers you want.
Reply:Proflowers, Online Wholesale Flowers or the growers box.
Reply:The best advice I can give you is hire a florist. Weddings, even for the most experienced floral designer, are very stressful and detailed. You will have so many other things to think about and do the day before and the day of your wedding. Enjoy that time. Florists are trained to work within specific budgets. Meet with a few of them, most will do a consultation for free. i'm sure one of them can put something together for you that will make you happy.

Reply:Go for Interflora - they may be expensive but the flowers are gorgeous, last ages and the delivery is included in the price.
Reply:Do it the old fashioned way, leave the house and spend some real money in a real shop in real time. It's quite easy, we all did it once or twice before the internet was invented.
Reply:I found interflora ended up being cheaper than any other method. The flowers might be cheaper in stores or over the phone but they tend to whack their delivery charge up.

post-a-rose.com are pretty good as well, they don't just do roses! But very efficient and relitavely low cost.

I've also rodered from flowersdirect.com who were pretty good. not much difference in price though

How can I send flowers and/or a gift to the USA when I live in UK?

My sis-in-law in Florida gave birth to my niece last night! I live in the U.K. Is there some way I could orders flowers or a suitable gift for my sis-in-law and new born baby, to be delivered to the hospital in Tampa? I think only Interflora or Hallmark do it but they are sooo expensive and I am justa student of moderate means! Help!

What kinds of cut flowers last the LONGEST?

I know carnations and alstroemeria last long, but are there any others? Estimations on days of life?

What flowers don't last long at all?

This is for ordering flowers for a relative (birthday) thru teleflorist.

Thanks!

What kinds of cut flowers last the LONGEST?
carnations mandolins lilys orchids
Reply:i would say Gerbera flowers they are very cute and last long you will love them,,, just like me lol
Reply:This is always hard. I have found sending a plant or dish garden with a few carnations placed, just to add color always makes a well received gift.

Once the cut flowers die away the plant still lives giving much pleasure to the recipient.

Personally I just love getting roses, even though they die away, they are always beautiful, and smell delightful.

Mixed Spring Floral Arrangements are good also. Things will die away gradually, while others survive for a little longer.

It is so close to Christmas, how about a poinsettia.
Reply:It bothers me that flowers don't smell any more. Maybe for the sake of people with allergies. IF allergies are not a problem you could order flowers requesting that the bouquet has fragrance. I just ordered some for my daughter on her BD. She said the fragrance filled her home. I usually try to call a local florist where ever the person lives so I can get personal service. They still give you the same prices as if you called teleflorist or FTD. Plus a $3 or $5 tip will insure you a beautiful bouquet. Nice to speak directly to the people who are going to put the bouquet together.
Reply:teleflorists may not give great flowers in the sense of durability. Why not send a potted plant they are more hard and last longer
Reply:tulips are pretty hardy for your yard. A boquet of roses is the most meaningful and prettiest to give someone , but will die in les than a week. Carnations are pretty and last a bit longer.

What to do when u order something online and the site is a fraud?

Would it be better to order flowers to be delivered to mom tomorrow or deliver them myelf?

Its her birthday tomorrow, and I want her to get a big bouquet. Its about $50 or more dollars for a decent little birthday one. Is it cheaper to get it myself? Also, I wont be able to get to moms work until after 2:00. Do you think its more fun to get flowers delivered by a delivery guy or her daughter?

Would it be better to order flowers to be delivered to mom tomorrow or deliver them myelf?
I have always wanted flowers delivered to me but she might want to see you.

If she sees you all the time have them delivered that would be more fun.

She would not know who they are from at first and it will make her wonder and I think that would be more exciting
Reply:The delivery guy.
Reply:Delivered, it suprises her and you can then send her a cute card with it.
Reply:definately more fun to get delivered.
Reply:By the delivery guy if he's wearing shorts, no shirt, and does a dance.

She would prefer that you deliver the flowers yourself regardless of cost. It would mean more.
Reply:I would want my daughter to come and bring me my flowers :-)
Reply:I'm quite sure that she'd love to see you.
Reply:Of course by her daughter. It's a lot more personal, and I doubt she will mind if if come in the afternoon.
Reply:What you could do is buy and have delivered a smaller bunch of flowers...then...buy a single white rose and give it to her in the afternoon and tell her the single rose is because she is a singularly great mom and the single rose is because alone, like the rose, she stands out from all the rest. trust me, she will love the thought of the delivery to her workplace and love you for the sentiment of the rose.

I saw a flower wholesale company online, would it be wise to order my wedding flowers that way?

Has anyone ever done that,or knows someone who has?

I saw a flower wholesale company online, would it be wise to order my wedding flowers that way?
I am planning on doing it, and what I have been told is that it is wonderful if you have the time, keep it simple, and have artsy people. We are doing irises with yellow roses, so it will safe us a lot of money. Just plan on asking your bridesmaids to help out the night before/that morning with making centerpieces and bouquets. Also, make sure you practice ahead of time!
Reply:Check the company out first, find out what happens if you don't get what you ordered, or what happens if you get horrible quality. Check with the BBB and ask for personal references. And only do this if you're willing (or have a friend who is) to do your own arrangements. Best of luck to you!
Reply:yes... and i hear there faster that way...
Reply:not a good idea at all. Would you order your wedding cake on-line and only see it and taste it on your wedding day? The flowers can come to you dead or wilted. You could get someone else order by mistake. For a wedding you only have one day to make things right don't chance it. If you want discount try going to your flower district and purchasing your flowers the day before from the flower dealers and creating the bundles yourself. Or you can look in the yellow pages and call all the florist and ask about prices then get the lowest quotes and go to their showroom. You might even get to see them make a bouquet while your there. Good luck.
Reply:i would see if you can find someone if they've gotten flowers from this company. You can also check out the better business bureau to make sure they are a reputable company. You have a great idea that could save you tons of money if its on the up and up.

Any ideas as to how many flowers I need to order if i am doing my own flowers for my wedding? Like how many?

flowers do I need per bouquet? I just want roses only. I have 7 bridesmaids...and will have 2 or 3 long tables long enough to sit 175 people...so with this in mind how many flowers....and how much greenery do u suggest? Also where is the best place to order these online??? TIA!!!

Any ideas as to how many flowers I need to order if i am doing my own flowers for my wedding? Like how many?
Look at a website called 2G Roses. They have a great wedding package and instructions about how many flowers, greenery, etc. that it takes to make up different types of bouquets, coursages, table arrangements, etc. Their prices are really good and their roses are beautiful!

Good luck to you!
Reply:According to my book, The DIY Wedding, The general rule is 18 - 24 stems per table arrangement or bridesmaid bouquet (10-12 for smaller bridesmaid bouquet), Twenty stems for bride's bouquet. Boutonnieres and corsages are one to three blooms, corsages are three to five and one bunch of green per three to four arrangements. This book also gives step by step directions for making different styles of bouquets, corsages, boutonnieres, and centerpieces so it might be useful to you. The author is Kelly Bare. Hope this helps.

I am getting married in September and I was wondering what type of blue flowers are in season then?

I am getting married in Flagstaff, AZ and one of our grocery store told us they could order flowers for us...they said it would not be too expensive, and we're going to make everything floral ourselves. I just need some suggestions on common blue flowers. We're looking for a true or light blue, nothing too purple-y. Any help would be great!

I am getting married in September and I was wondering what type of blue flowers are in season then?
You might want to make sure that they have done this before. They might think that it's a piece of cake to order flowers, but flowers being products of nature, availability of some flowers are unpredictable.

Predictable ones are those grown in greenhouse (such as roses and lilies). As to Hydrangea, some of them are grown in greehouse (those with small heads) and are available year-round. Gorgeous ones are available up untill Septemeber. So this is a close call. Unpredictable ones are "wild"-flowers grown in the field (so-called field crop); Delphinium is one of them. In the US, most Delphinium come from California. They don't have one in September. So if you want Delphinium in September, your grocer should get it from South America (Columbia). Theirs aren't as good as domestic ones, though.

Anyway, if they are experienced, they should know what flowers they should be able to get, and what flowers can be iffy. They should have a Plan-B if the flowers you want belong to the "iffy" category. They have only one shot to get this right.
Reply:hydrangea, phlox, baptista. look for an online nursery like spring hill and they will have searches for specific colored plants. good luck!
Reply:Congratulations, I may have at last found my own true love too and I am glad someone else did too. Try hydrangeas, they are pretty. Or, you could ask at one of those professional flower shops, get their advice and when they tell you, then bring it back to your grocery store and order there. It definitely won't be as expensive as a professional place would be, but you will be able to get their feedback!

I wish you the best!!!
Reply:asters should be in season about then...there's some really pretty blues and they look lovely with white or yellow roses!....

http://images.google.com/images?q=aster%26amp;...
Reply:Hydrangeas comes to mind first.
Reply:hydrangeas, aconite, delphinium. There's one called bachelor's button, but that's more of a wildflower, might not be commercially grown. Another called Eryngium...blue sea holly is the common name, I think...should be somewhat available.

I'd suggest delpinium for a strong, vibrant blue, but do an images search on the others - you might like them.

Place to order wedding flowers online....?
www.50flowers.com
Reply:www.ftd.com They have a really good selection
Reply:First I think I would start here:

http://images.google.com/images?hl=en%26amp;q=...

This will at least give you ideas on the hundreds of pink flowers and combinations that are available to you. Write down a list of what you like and what you don't.

Personally my next step would to to go to a florist nearby you that you trust. Sit down and ask if they have any of the flowers in the shop that you could see, live, or if it could be ordered in. Not sure why you want to order them online, maybe you are having a destination wedding (?), but I would talk to your local person and see if they can get in touch with a florist where are you going to, and work with them to get what you want.

Sometimes ordering online you pay HUGE fees and are not guaranteed that what you ordered is what will actually show up at the doorstep. They usually have a 'substitution policy' which you must agree to, that if they cannot fill your request they will substitute flowers of their choosing - not your choice, and usually not even in the same price range (they'll charge you for roses and send daisies).

Have fun picking your flowers, but be careful with how you order them. Good Luck!
Reply:I recommend www.rosesource.com

I bought 250 roses for my son's wedding last year. The price has gone up since '06, but at that time I bought 250 for $160! They have LOTS of flowers, not just roses. I was able to track my shipment from Miami all the way to my home in Michigan via Fed Ex. It was free shipping too! They give you pointers on their site as to how to care for them.

Another good one is www.growersbox.com - I have not used them, but they get good reviews on other sites. They also have LOTS of flowers - not just roses.

Yet another one is www.bigrose.com, but I think they only have roses.

I LOVE real flowers. Sometimes people think you can save by using silks, maybe you can, but I only paid 64 cents each for a real roses and I have seen some silks for $3 each.

Two more options: Costco.com sells bulk flowers as does Walmart I believe. If you live by a Walmart you can also order them right from the store (a special order) and they are cheap!!!

The only drawback.......it takes LOTS of time to assemble them. I didn't do bouquets - I wouldn't even go there....we only used them for the reception and church and rehearsal dinner. But, if you know someone that can do this - all the better! Again, it's stressful because they have to come last minute (for freshness) - but it's worth it and I would do it again in a minute. 250 roses at the florist would have been $1,000 and we only paid $160!

Good luck!

If you order flowers from Pro Flowers and they show up dead, What would you do?

I called customer service, SW/ Coquotte #2516 (stupidVisor), She treated me like poop. Now what do I do

If you order flowers from Pro Flowers and they show up dead, What would you do?
I would call back and ask to speak to the stupid-visor's boss. Explain to them what happened and that you are very dissatisfied with their product. I don't know how you paid for the flowers but I would call the card company and see if you can cancel the payment to them. If you think you are the only one that got those kind of flowers you are probably wrong and they are being swamped by the complaints they are getting. So they are burned out, but that is no reason to provide lousy customer service. I would also write a letter to the company...there are a lot things you can do......Good Luck..
Reply:I would call them again and ask for higher management, insist if necessary, and inform them of your experience- the horrible customer service and the arrival of dead flowers. While you are speaking with someone of status within the company don't forget to remind them that word of mouth is the best advertisement and this experience has portrayed their company as unacceptable. Not the first impression that a company would want to make. Let them speak after you have stated your experience ( i find that pausing longer than usual before answering back makes them very nervous and more prompted to please). Do not give up until you have feel assured that you have been fairly compensated for the bad experience.
Reply:Ring their Headquarters wherever it is , tell them that you were treated badly and about your problem, tell them her name and tell them its discraceful, maybe youll get them free!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Reply:I would call them back and tell them that they need to replace the "flowers" as they were dead when they arrived. I would also make a report to the Better Business Bureau.
Reply:Call and talk to the manager and they will replace it with any product of equal value.
Reply:call them and tell them to replace them

How do i find/order flowers that have a nice smell? (i.e. NOT GREENHOUSE OR HOTHOUSE flowers)?

i want to order flowers for my mom. She doesn't like flowers when they come from a green house or hothouse b/c she says they don't have any smell.

How do i go about finding flowers that DON'T come from those places?

what search term do i use? is there a word for flowers that aren't grown in hothouses or greenhouses? like "fresh" or "organic"?

im pretty sure that those are NOT the right terms to use in my search. id appreciate any idea as to what word i might enter into the query of a search engine.

thanks~

How do i find/order flowers that have a nice smell? (i.e. NOT GREENHOUSE OR HOTHOUSE flowers)?
Yellow flowers will generally have more fragrance that other colors.

Freesia is a cut flower smells good wherever it is grown.

lavender plants and rosemary are nice.

Yellow primroses, stargazer lilies and hyacinth are fragrant.

If you live in the same area as mom just shop with your nose.

If you get roses yellow spray type roses one of the more fragrant types.

Many commercially grown plants and flowers are not as fragrant as garden types.

But she may not want you to buy her flowers at all.

A gardenia blossom smells great, you could have one delivered to her and she could float it in a rose bowl.

Good luck..

I am a former florist.

You pay with credit card, and usually you can pick the type of flowers you want. They will be delivered on the date you pick and usually you can also have the store fill out a card for you.

Reply:Try Ebay or try a store called Michaels crafts of just Michaels also Joann Fabric and umm I cant think of the 3rd craft store. WOW
Reply:Go to your local craft store first and see what they have to offer. AC Moore on the East Coast usually has a really large selection and might even have a website. Good luck and God Bless.
Reply:Honestly, for silk flowers you are better off going to walmart or hobby lobby. They have such a variety of flowers and you don't have to pay for shipping. You won't need too many for your cake, right? If one of these places doesn't have the flower you need (I can't imagine why they wouldn't) you can also talk to a local florist. Seriously, for as few flowers as you are going to need you should avoid expensive shipping.

Sending flowers to Hawaii..any suggestions on where to order from?

I would like to send a plant or some flowers to Hawaii. Does anyone have any suggestions of a decent place and fairly reasonable?

Sending flowers to Hawaii..any suggestions on where to order from?
You might want to also check Proflowers.com

They've been very reliable for me. I don't know if they do Hawaii, but it's worth a look.

Mostly, I wanted to respond so I can say I like your name!! ;)
Reply:look up a florist in H.I. you will pay more if you order more from your local florist, I was a florist and I know this to be true. you will get the full amount of flowers you pay for by ordering from a local florist in H.I. look up "find a florist" on the web and put in the city and state you are trying to get them delivered to. hope I helped
Reply:I personally would see what I can get from FTD.com and 800Flowers.com in my price range. My reason is you can see what you are ordering. If the delivery isn't up to par you have something to compare with in your complaint.
Reply:In Hawaii
Reply:I find it best to find a reputable florist very near the address of the recipient and call them directly instead of using something like 1-800-flowers or FTD or something like that.

Look on the Internet for reviews of florists in that town. If you have a dollar amount budgeted for the flowers or plant call the florist and tell them what you have in mind, describe the occasion, and ask what they can provide.

The flowers and plants in Hawaii are wonderful. You should be able to order a beautiful arrangement or a lovely plant that will grow in that climate.

The books flowers in the attick by VC Andrews. what order should i read them in?

I know they go a certain way. Can someone list them in order by the way you read them please? Thanks a lot.

The books flowers in the attick by VC Andrews. what order should i read them in?
The books were written in this order:

Flowers In The Attic

Petals On The Wind

If There Be Thorns

Seeds Of Yesterday

Garden Of Shadows

Although Garden Of Shadows was the last book written, it is actually a prequel to Flowers In The Attic. It's been over 10 years since I read the series but I think I read Garden Of Shadows first. It isn't necessary, though, in order to understand the story.
Reply:Flowers in the Attic

Petals on the Wind

If There Be THorns

Seeds of Yesterday

Garden of Shadows
Reply:the first one "flowers in the attic" is the only one worth reading... they just get completely screwed up as the series goes on
Reply:Oh my goodness! I just read Flowers in the attic and Petals on the wind! I am addicted! On the front cover is the book list in order. They are the best books ever, and I want to have thought of the plot so bad! =))
Reply:Flowers in the Attic is the first book, Petals on the wind is the 2nd book, If there be thorns is the third, Seeds of yesterday the fourth, and Garden of shadows the fifth. It is called the Dollanganger series by VC Andrews. Read most of them, they are very good!
Reply:go to the front of book and they will list the books written by her in order.
Reply:Best series I've ever read. Next to Harry Potter, V.C.Andrews is amazing.
Reply:Thoses were creepy books. Usually the books are listed in the front or back pages.

Can anyone suggest a good website to order flowers?

I want to send flowers to my friend for her birthday but she on the opposite side of the state from me so I wanted to know if anyone could advise me on a good reliable but inexpensive floral service.

Can anyone suggest a good website to order flowers?
I've done this many times. The FTD site is wonderful. They also have a toll free number. You can specify how much you want to spend. They have special arrangements for different occasions. You can buy a small or large - same arrangement different prices. VERY reasonable.

www.ftd.com
Reply:1-800-flowers has the best selection and they use a local florist to deliver the product. i've received numerous arrangements from my honey this way. they also have other gifts available. candy, gift cards, all kinds of goodies. and most importantly, you can search any price range!

Reply:The best way to send flowers to your friend is to call a florist in your hometown - tell them what you want to send, how much you want to pay and where to send them - they will take care of it for you from there, you don't have to search for a florist on the net (will probably cost you a whole lot more doing it that way) - I do it all the time! Tell your friend happy B'day for me!

Need help with my wedding flowers order please?

Just placing my order in for my wedding supplies to make my own bouquets. I have a problem with an item im buying. Please help by going to www.afloral.com and search for calla, look for a calla bush with 14 blooms, when click for more info it states that the flowers are 3 inch, but does this mean the overall flower size or the size of the bloom. Hope some1 is prepared to help me, thanks.

Need help with my wedding flowers order please?
sounds like the bush has 3 inch size blooms...... It's not counting the stem length.
Reply:Calla lillies are about 3 inches long - if you're worried, order them and make sure you have enough wire to make up any shortfall. Good luck with your wedding.
Reply:You could call them toll free. They should know the answer.
Reply:If they have a list of contacts I think you should email them with this question.

In your experience, which is the best website to order flowers from?

I live in a different city than my mother, so I want to send her some flowers for Mother's Day, but there's so many I don't know which one is any good.. help?

In your experience, which is the best website to order flowers from?
http://ww12.1800flowers.com.

i have had pretty good experiences with them
Reply:I don't like to use any of them, except for international orders. Call a florist who is local to your mother and tell him that you want to spend X amount of money, including tax and everything. Tell him it's for mother's day and that he should use his discretion on the type of flowers.

This is an excellent way to get a lot more for your money than you would otherwise. You are not paying a middleman (the 800 florists) and you allow the local florist to be creative. He will be able to use up some very expensive flowers if he has one or two lying around that are getting stale, and I can just about guarantee you will get rave reviews from your mother. This has always worked very very well for me.
Reply:I don't use websites. I support my local merchants. Most of the local shops have access to other cities. It's much better for your local economy to buy and pay locally.

How far in advance should I order flowers for wedding favors?

I am ordering vases for wedding favors, which will double as centerpieces. How far in advance should I order the flowers? I will need about 125.

How far in advance should I order flowers for wedding favors?
Order them as soon as possible from any wholesale website but have them delivered 4 days in advance so that the blooms open and look their best for your special day. If ordering from a florist the sooner the better when ordering because chances are you are not the only bride or customer for that day.
Reply:several months.
Reply:all flowers should be ordered 6 months in advance.
Reply:I would check with the florist or look at the flower websites that you can order from. You want them delivered about mid week the week of the wedding to keep them as fresh as possible.

What happens if nobody's home if i order flowers for delivery from online?

will they just leave the flowers on the doorstep, or come back another time? also for those who've ordered flowers online before for mother's day, what day is a good day to order for delivery? i have the full day off thursday. if i order for delivery thursday, will the flowers still be good to give on sunday? or should i order for delivery on sunday? sorry for all the questions as i am not experienced with ordering flowers online, but they seem to have better selection.

What happens if nobody's home if i order flowers for delivery from online?
Order them today...you can specify what day you want them to be delivered..do it now so it will be garaunteed for the date you would like the delivery. And yes if no one is home they will leave the flowers on the porch.
Reply:In my town they call first,
Reply:i have ordered flowers before and they came back later that day because no one was home. im pretty sure you can order them now and just ask them to deliver them on whatever day your wanting them to be delivered.

What is the best website to order flowers ?

My best friend lives in a different state than I do and her birthday is coming up. Have you ever used a great website to order flowers for someone that can be delievered in a different state or place? Thanks much!

What is the best website to order flowers ?
I don't trust the websites because the product is way inferior than what you pay. If your friend lives in a larger city, call the best hotel's Concierge desk and order through them. If in her city there are no Concierge desks, call a reputable hotel and ask the operator or front desk for local florists referrals.

Does your Mom live in Dallas also? If so, you should be able to call a local florist to deliver them. Cancel the other order and get another order elsewhere.

Good Luck, ;-)

Where can you order flowers & plants like the greenhouses have?

not like boquets of flowers but single plants and flowers like you would find at the shopko floral shop or walmart. some greenhouses must have to order them....but where?

Where can you order flowers %26amp; plants like the greenhouses have?
I order plants from parkseed.com gurneys.com is also a good one and they have some buy one get one free deals. I got like 8 plants for only 25 dollars. there are tons of nursery catalogs that you can order online wasidegardens.com bluestoneperennials.com and lots of others. good luck i hope you find some plants you love!
Reply:Not really. What they do is start them from seed. They start them probably in Jan. Then by spring they have full grown plants to sell...You can do that as well..I do all my vegetable and flower plants in seed trays with fluorescent tubes for light.
Reply:loew or walmart
Reply:you might want to order a flower seed catalog but then agin i dont know any thing about gardening.
