My dress is off white and the bridesmaids' dresses are mint green.
Here are the bridesmaids dresses

I have no problem going w/faux flowers in order to use black flowers but I'm not 100% sure if this is what I want. I am not worried about it looking too gothic. We're not a gothic couple but we are also not the typical, classic couple.
Is black or white the only colors that will work?
Any ideas?
THANKS :)
What color flowers do I use for a mint green, black and off white wedding?
Yellow roses and lily of the valley.
Bird of paradise
Gerbera daisies in bright fusia or orange and yellow
My sister and I made her bouquets out of paper twist and gold ribbons and accents.
I don't think black flowers would look good.
Reply:Use white and green flowers. You can accent using black ribbon to tie them and get black beads to make some boquet jewels. If you decide you want "black" flowers don't use black silks. It's highly unatural so will look very cheap. Instead, choose dark colored flowers that appear black like a deep purple calla lilly or a chocolate cosmo.
Hydrangeas come in white and pale green, there are green orchids, white roses with greenery. Even though the girl's dresses are green if you make the bouquets predominately white they'll still show up great.
Reply:Cala lilies, Lilly of the valley
Reply:You can surround cream colored flowers with lots of dark greenery, or you can add another color - something bright - so there's plenty of contrast between the mint green dresses and the flowers. You spend a lot of $ on the flowers so you want them to show up well in the photos and during the ceremony - you can also use them to form decorations on the head table or the cake table by having the bridesmaids place them there for the reception - a fairly common practice. The mint green dresses are an excellent choice because it's considered a neutral - and all colors of flowers will go with them!
Reply:My colors are hunter green, chocolate brown, and ivory. I found a lot of flowers in my search to bring in the green and brown into my bouquet.
Here are some thoughts:
Cybidium orchids:

Chartreuse zinnia (I am using in bouquet):

Green hydrangeas (I am using in centerpieces):

And here is a calla that you might want to use. It is probably pricey. I am using one called "Naomi."

You could do a mix of various flowers so that they aren't all black or green or ivory. We are also using some ivory roses.
Good luck.

daffodils, i think would pop against the green well...

a creamy pale yello tulip maybe...

I also like ranunculus, like peonies but cheaper, they come in a variety of colors but I like the white ones...

Also, I never thought I would suggest these...but with your dresses, what about sunflowers? ehh, maybe?

Reply:No...don't do black flowers! Talk to your florist and they can put somethings together, but I think that a pretty pink would look awesome! You need a color that is opposite of the green dresses, that would be pink! Some peony's or hydrangeas would be nice. Congrats!

I personally would use brighter tones as pastels and ivory/cream tones will blend with the mint and ivory. Against the black anything pops so that is no problem. As in nature, your green is the perfect backdrop to whatever colors you want!
Good Luck
Reply:lilly.-blurey
Reply:White cala lilies mixed w/ either bear grass or bells of ireland. Beautiful!
Reply:Purples go really nice with green. I woudn't personally go for black flowers... but you can also use a lot of greenery in the bouquets to get the green in there - and it makes it cheaper too! Yellow could also work nicely - even together with the purple - it would give a nice summery feel.

Does 1800 Flowers Include A Card?
I'm want to send my girlfriend some flowers for her birthday (we're about 2000 miles apart for the time being because of college). She's turning 19 and I'd like to send 19 roses. I've checked online places like FTD, Pro Flowers, and 1800 flowers. It seems I can only get 12 or 18 roses so it looks like I'll just have to get 18 and I guess I'll go with 1800 flowers.
My question is, does 1800 Flowers send some kind of personalized card along with the bouquet? The flowers I picked aren't in a "birthday" arrangement but I'd like a birthday card along with the flowers. For those who have ordered from 1800 flowers, when you order do they give you the option of adding a personalized card or something like that? Will I have to buy a "birthday" arrangement to get a card?
Also, how do these arrive? If I get roses with a vase are they already in the vase in a box or something? How does it work?
Thanks.
Does 1800 Flowers Include A Card?
You're in college and you are asking this????
Reply:If you get the vase option, it arrives in the vase with clear plastic wrapped over it in a nice way. You can get a Card special, but it usually comes with a small business sized note card that has a specialized message from you, but limited number of words. If you want a card, they will offer you that option no matter what "package" you order.
With any flower company you can call and tell them exactly what you want and have it delivered, even 19 roses. Might I suggest 18 red and one white for the special day?
Call them direct (Whichever company you like as the ones you have listed are pretty close in prices) and they will give you exactly what you want. You don't have to order their packages, you can get the 19 roses. and the birthday card.
they arrive with the vase, but they still need to be taken out, arranged, and then trimmed before watering.
Don't worry about it. No matter what you do, she is going to like it.
Reply:I have used proflowers.com and they have always been great - you can send a personalized message as well. The roses come with a vase, but aren't already in it- how would that work?
I also use the place below for mothers day, my fiancee's b-day, etc. You can buy personalized flower arrangements, etc. there as well and they are great!
Reply:Most flower delivery places let you select cards as an additional option. 1 800 flowers does have birthday cards to put with any flower arrangement.
Delivery drivers will not drive around with water in vases. The vase and bouquet are delivered at the same time, but usually with the flowers and vase in separate boxes.
The only problem is if someone is not home to get the delivery, it is often left on the porch and could get damaged by rain.
Reply:I have used them a couple of times. Once, to a girlfriend of mine in Holland, the other to my grandmothers. Each time they included a card. They arrive by a local florist to that specific area.
Depending on price, they have differing ways to send the flowers and messages. Roses can be purchased by the dozens, as they are the most commonly purchased flower. Rare flowers cost a lot more. Also, the cards differ. You can get standard message cards, or you can get something like Hallmark. Even the least expensive option allows you to send a personalized message.
Good luck.

Gift cards are popular in gift giving, but do you ever feel like your giftgiver took the easy way out?
Sometimes it feels about as personal as flowers ordered by your husbands secretary...lol.
Gift cards are popular in gift giving, but do you ever feel like your giftgiver took the easy way out?
Yes, gift cards require no thought process. I would rather someone buy me something and hate it, at least they tried to give me something from the heart, not their pocket.
Reply:It is an easy way out, but it's also the smarter, preferred way out! I would much rather get to go buy something I really wanted and feel like it's almost free!
Reply:I prefer gift cards. Especially when it comes to the baby. People by her some stuff to open, but when it comes to the cards I can get stuff that I know fits. Then I always take a picture of her with what I bought with the card. That way the person who sent/gave the card knows what I bought.
Reply:not really because the way i see it is...they are hard to buy for, but love to pick out things on their own. a giftcard gives them the wonderful opportunity to buy something they want, or even use it to buy a gift for someone else. i prefer giftcards myself!
Reply:no, i have asked for gift cards before to certain stores. i like to shop but i'm broke, so then i get to shop without spending money.
Reply:No. I much prefer gift cards rather that useless things I don't want or need and clothes that don't fit.
Not all people want or need the things you think they want or need. I would rather not get a gift because it is a holiday. I like gifts when someones sees something and they think of me so they buy it and give it to me.
Reply:Yes and then you know how much they spent. They can be good but boring.
Reply:you know, I almost knew when I clicked on this question it was asked by a woman/girl. The details proved! Too funny.
I am a guy, but no, I don't think its the easy way out. I prefer it actually.
but then again, most guys dont really care about the thought behind gifts....we're obtuse in that sense.
Reply:Only if my hubby does it, and he KNOWS BETTER than to ever do that!
Reply:Never! Love 'em, love 'em, love 'em. They're the perfect size, color and style every time. No more pretending to like something just because someone spent 3 months trying to figure out the perfect gift.
The fact that they give a gift is awesome in itself, but knowing that I'll get something I LIKE with it...priceless.
:) JMHO
Reply:yeah because i mean i can understand because when people get me a gift they have to ask me what want or they will get something i wont like so for some people yes but for others no..
Reply:Yeah I totally consider it a cop-out. I mean, it's good if you don't know a person well. (just get them a g/c to the mall or something) but when you actually know what a person is like, and you have an actual relationship, it shouldn't be that hard to pick up something for them or even ask what they might want. ??
Reply:I don't mind receiving gift cards. That way I can get what I want. I would rather get a gift card than have someone take time out to pick out something that I don't want or like.
Reply:I admit it's the easy way out, but,if your not sure what the recipient would like, then it's of benefit to both parties.
Has to be better than buying someone a useless or unwanted gift
Reply:I agree with you...to me the best part about getting a gift is opening it. i don't care what it is...it could be a pile if dog crap i want to be suprised!!! with a gift card i don't have anything to look forward to.
Reply:No, I don't think so. It's a heck of a lot better than standing in line to exchange something. With a gift card you can get what you want or need instead of the giver taking a chance on you not liking, wanting, or needing their gift. I prefer gift cards (or cash). I don't feel they're impersonal, but practical. The giver is guarenteed that you'll be happy.
Reply:I see both sides of it. First, a lot of people aren't happy with gifts, no matter what you give them. You spend all day trying to find the right something only to have them return it the minute your back's turned. Gift cards are an easy way out, but I think still thoughtful; the alternative would be not giving anything at all and that would create the real problem! People should just learn to be grateful for what they get...
Reply:no because a gift card u can get what u want and they dont give u the reciept to exchange it if it not the right size or what u want...i wouldnt say easy way but smart way
Reply:sometimes but sometimes it nice to be able to get something you want instead of being suck with something you didnt want

Everybody appreciates a nice pen and pencil set.
Reply:try not to go with something distictly OMFGURCHINESE gift. Maybe a pen and pencil set, or chocolate or a nice bottle of wine.
Reply:Soap. This will hopefully give tham a hint to wash their butts more often. And large paper bags to put over their heads.
Reply:Food stuff.

Fruit basket that 's arranged like flowers?
I saw a fruit basket where they cut pineapples to look like flowers and put them on sticks, and strawberries on sticks and they arrange the fruits on these sticks to look like a flowers. Kinda of hard to explain. If you know what I'm talking about, do you know where I could order one? Having trouble finding it online.
Thank you!

There are text translation websites available. Search for %26lt;icelandic + translation%26gt;. They frequently dont' work all that well, so you have to have some idea about what you are reading. good luck!
